1. What was decided upon? (e.g. what has been updated or changed?)
Emeritus records are not loaded from daily feed. Emeritus status are gained from University, emeritus faculty will have VUnetID and emeritus card. Once emeritus brings card to circulation desk, staff will manually create an account for the emeritus faculty. They also need to provide the official letter from Vanderbilt, stating they have been granted Emeritus status.
When creating emeritus account, please make it an “External” account, choose “FACULTY” as user group, use his VUnetID as primary identifier, no expiration date, and put “Emeritus” as a statistical category in “Statistics” tab.
Emeritus faculty have same rights as faculty, including electronic resources access.
2. Why was this decided? (e.g. explain why this decision was reached. It may help to explain the way a procedure used to be handled pre-Alma)
To clarify how to manage and handle emeritus faculty records and what library privilege they have.
3. Who decided this? (e.g. what unit/group)
Access Services Committee and Alma Systems Committee
4. When was this decided?
12/5/2018
5. Additional information or notes.
Emeritus status lies within the Vanderbilt domain and not VUMC. As a result, any Emeritus faculty should be using a VUNet ID for access to our electronic resources, including faculty from the School of Medicine or School of Nursing.
